Founded in 2014 by Queens bred Teddy Santis, Aime Leon Dore aims to provide elevated and timeless streetwear essentials. To sum it up, ALD is a classic blend between hip hop and fine art.

In all honesty, it’s hard for me to think of ALD as a streetwear brand. It’s much more than that. Its flagship is an experience and it prides itself on immersing its customers in a story with each release and collaboration. Gone are the days when screenprinted t-shirts and jeans with your label granted one the right to call themselves a “streetwear” brand. Now, it requires an aesthetic, a purpose and a movement.

Visually, ALD is far beyond its time. It’s creative executions seem somewhat driven out of an advertising agency. Even in a time when black is considered an elevated look, ALD has found a way to make color blocking and palette coordinating an attractive default.

As with any brand that has an identity, it’s products and marketing is not targeted for everyone. Featuring collaborations with New Balance, Woolrich and Porsche, it’s clear to notice that Aime Leon Dore is marketing towards a more affluent and established buyer.
